In honor of Saturday, January 7th’s holiday, I’m Not Going to Take It Anymore Day (more on that later), our book club book will be about one of our country’s most famous dissenters. Notorious RBG: The Life and Times of Ruth Bader Ginsberg is co-written by authors Irin Carmon and Shana Knizhnik. The stories they tell will leave you in awe of Justice Ginsberg’s determination and brilliance. Inside information gives you an idea of what to look for in her decisions as you follow the Supreme Court in all of its crazy drama.
While reading this book will deepen your knowledge and understanding, it also serves as a bit of soul food. Carmon and Kniznik cleverly include contributions from fans, artists, and commentators about Justice Ginsberg, showing what an impact she makes on the wider world. At the same time, they outline little how-to’s guided by the words and actions of the Justice herself, which can’t leave me anything but inspired and ready to fight the good fight. Of course, her wisdom powerfully harnesses that energy, telling us the most effective and long-lasting methods to make the changes we long for.
“Fight for the things you care about, but do it in a way that will lead others to join you.”
