Vistula cruise

I love it when we’re cruisin’ together…

According to a recent study, 90 percent of married people are less happy with their partner five years into a marriage than they were when they were married.  As the time together increases past five years, the number of happy people further decreases.  However, there are some couples that remain happy with one another or even become happier as time goes on.  While there is a lot of hard work put into making those relationships successful, there also a significant amount of play, a factor that is pretty important too. Scents and Sensibility: How to Smell Good Series

One scorching summer day when I was living in New York City, my friend Chris and I met up in Union Square.  When I first saw him he was covered in sweat, and he looked exhausted.  He explained that he had felt adventurous that day and had opted to walk an at least five mile trek across the city from his apartment in Williamsburg rathar than to take the train as usual.  Anyway, we were about to take off on our own excursion when he confessed that he was nervous that he smelled.  Being the great friend that I am, I agreed to discretely smell under his arm for him (no judgement, please).  So I think he pointed up at something, I quickly sniffed his direction, and told him he was all good.  His fear of being repulsive was quelled and we went on our way.

It wasn’t until later when we were inside the DKNY store that I somehow caught a second whiff of him and realized that my first hurried analysis was wrong.   Continue reading →

9 Easy Ways For a Guy to Keep Winning His Girl

24 Saturday Mar 2012

Let’s hear it for the boy! This week has been busy with stories of guys being big sweethearts.  With all the damage a few playboys can do to a girl’s self-esteem, it’s important to recognize the genuinely great guys out there and what they do to prove themselves.  These are true examples, so if any guy tries to reason that men don’t think that way or shouldn’t have to do these things, you can know better.  Emotionally adept men exist, and they’re not quite as rare as society would lead us to believe.

For as complicated as men think women are, it’s surprisingly simple to keep the girls happy.  Let them know you care and SHOW it.  Below are some relatively easy habits a guy can adopt that raises his status from replaceable to inescapable. Continue reading →

Compliment Day January 24th

17 Tuesday Jan 2012

Good news: Holiday season is not quite over yet!  Actually, according to Hallmark’s Ultimate Holiday Site, the festivities never stop and have been relentlessly ongoing all through the year.  With everything from Strawberry Ice Cream Day (January 15th) to Squirrel Appreciation Day (January 21st), January is rife with reasons to celebrate.

However, a special relatively new holiday is too often overlooked…probably because it’s nestled between the 8th’s ever-busy Man Watcher’s Day (how did we miss that one?) and of course the official Opposite Day on the 25th (I think you can leave these decorations all the way up until Backward’s Day on the 31st).

National Compliment Day has been officially celebrated for fourteen years and is now just around the corner.  The holiday was founded to encourage the sincere giving and receiving of one of the most desired gifts of all- flattery.  Luckily this gift is free, and with a little preparation and some thoughtful consideration, you can be a sensation at all of those Compliment Day parties.

Here are just a few compliment tips to brush up on before you embark upon your festivities: Continue reading →

The Reason You’re My Favorite

I found a mission to chase and followed it as far away as I could think to go.  I got a decent job, found a place to stay, and met some fun people to know.  All the while I thought of how you would like them all. I bought a couch and chairs, set up pictures and frames, stocked shelves with movies, games and books.  And I set them all up just so, thinking of where you would sit and what you would say.  I work out in the gym and shop for clothes, see museums and go out to shows.  I don’t have much of a choice, guessing you are doing the same. Paper money is just the shade of green that compliments every complexion!

Respect your money, respect yourself.  This is the mantra that carries economic professionals through high times and hard times alike.  Learn to manage your resources and you direct your own future.  A common tip doled out for people learning to be more responsible with money is to only spend paper money for your everyday expenditures.  This helps take the abstract aspect out of spending money.  Here’s how to do it: Continue reading →

Hello, Dear!

When I was living in Oklahoma two years ago, an older man approached me while I was working the floor of a local gym.  I’d never met him before, but as with most elderly gentlemen, this didn’t stop him from engaging me in a drawn out conversation. Out of the blue he offered me his secret to success.

He told me that when he was my age, he made a list of everything he knew he wanted in a wife. He listed qualities like intelligence, wit, humor, success, honesty, and generosity along with blond hair and height to match his own.  I laughed a little, but he went on. He said that he carried that list with him everywhere and strove to be each one of those qualities himself (except a few choice physical traits).  When he portrayed those characteristics, he explained, he naturally attracted the woman of his dreams.  Continue reading →
